The location is the real standout at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Chelsea. At 116 W 28th St, on the Flower District and Chelsea border, it's close to Herald Square, Macy's, and a short walk from Empire State Building. Madison Square Garden and Penn Station are nearby too, along with major subway lines at 28th and 34th. Midtown, the High Line, Chelsea Market, and 5th Avenue are easy to reach on foot or by transit, without being surrounded by Times Square crowds. It's a typical Fairfield Inn done well, with a daily free hot breakfast buffet, 24-hour fitness center, free Wi-Fi, and clean modern rooms. Breakfast had eggs, waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee, handy for busy days out. The room was a decent NYC size, quiet and comfortable, with a great bed, mini-fridge, microwave, and good AC. Nothing fancy or huge, but it all worked. Staff were friendly and efficient with check-in, local tips, and quick requests, and housekeeping was consistent. We had one short wait at a busy time, but service was very good overall. A reliable Marriott stay with free breakfast and prime Midtown/Chelsea access for a fair price. Great value, and I'd stay again.

The room was a decent size, and the location is good. Still, several parts of our stay at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Chelsea from 29 December to 2 January were disappointing. We arrived around 1:00 PM and were told to come back at the official 3:00 PM check-in time. When we returned, we had to wait again, and didn't get a room until after 3:30 PM. Reception staff weren't very helpful or communicative, which made things more frustrating after a long journey. Then our room wasn't cleaned on 1 January. When we asked the front desk for housekeeping, we were told the staff had already left and cleaning wasn't possible. That's disappointing with the high-season rates we were paying and the expectations that come with a Marriott property. Overall, I'd avoid staying here again. There are better choices nearby.

The room and stay were nice for my business trip, but leaving was a nightmare. My things were falling out of my bag in the lobby, and after spending over $200, I was treated like I was loitering. The worker was so eager to rush me out that I had to keep stuffing my clothes back in to close the bag while he stood there harassing me and making me feel like a criminal. I won't be back.

Breakfast was delicious and well organized, and the staff were outstanding, friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites in Chelsea has modern, clean, comfortable rooms with beautiful city views. It's perfectly placed for exploring Manhattan on foot or by subway. A fantastic stay from start to finish, highly recommended!

The continental breakfast didn't meet expectations. The staff were consistently polite and helpful, though, and I was especially impressed by their patience with an older couple working through a language barrier. The property could use some TLC, but maintenance responds quickly and efficiently.
