1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

The room had visible dust and mold around the sink, which was unacceptable at this price. We paid $800 a night and expected the hospitality and attention to detail associated with the brand, but the stay was disappointing from beginning to end. At arrival, the valet staff didn't greet us or offer help. Several staff members seemed cold, dismissive, rude, and indifferent. I've never been treated so poorly at a hotel, especially one presenting itself as a luxury five-star property. If you're staying in DUMBO, I'd honestly look at almost any other hotel. Dining was frustrating as well. Harriet’s Rooftop and Barbuto accepted reservations late in the evening but then rushed us soon after seating. At Harriet’s, we were pressed to meet a drink minimum while staff began last call, turned on the lights early, and hurried guests out shortly after taking 11 PM reservations. At Barbuto, dinner felt so rushed that no one offered dessert before bringing the check. I privately contacted management afterward because I couldn't believe how poor the experience had been. They only offered an invitation to return at some undisclosed discounted rate, supposedly to provide the experience we should have received the first time. That felt incredibly tone deaf. Being asked to spend more with the brand instead of getting meaningful accountability or a resolution further damaged my trust in the hotel.

I wasn't expecting much, but my stay at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge surprised me in a good way. The rooms aren't big, though they're comfortable and well laid out. The design feels clean and modern, with lots of wood and natural materials, and nothing overdone. Right by the water, the hotel has a direct view of the bridge and skyline. Sunset and nighttime views are especially striking. Despite being in the city, the atmosphere is calm, almost like a small escape. Service was smooth, with no issues. It isn't cheap, but compared with many New York places, it felt worth it. I'd come back.

The staff were kind, attentive, and welcoming throughout, and it was clear they care about guests. They also did something sweet for my daughter's birthday, which meant a lot to us. We had an amazing stay, beyond what I expected, and we'll definitely return. 🖤

In December, my daughter and I spent three nights at 1 Hotel in Brooklyn to celebrate her birthday. The hotel was a great base for exploring the city while avoiding some of the holiday season's inevitable chaos. New York didn't disappoint, and Brooklyn was lovely to walk around, with lots of great food choices. It was a short subway ride or walk across the bridge into NYC. The place is gorgeous and the rooms felt like pure luxury. From arrival to checkout, the staff were friendly, accommodating, and on point with their service. Thanks to everyone at 1 Hotel for making my daughter's birthday so special.
