Best Western Plus Arena Hotel

The service and rooms were excellent, and the continental breakfast was nice. We were visiting Brooklyn for the weekend, but I hadn't made the reservation and wouldn't have picked this location. I don't think it's a nice part of the city. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful when we arrived before check-in, and stored our luggage so we could go explore without dragging it along. We were hungry, so the woman at the desk suggested a couple of places. We chose a pizza restaurant that served meals, and it was fine for a quick bite. We soon realized it wasn't an area where we wanted to walk around. I just wish the hotel were in a better location.

The lot was a real plus: plenty of spaces beside the hotel, and parking was a reasonable $12 a night. The staff were great at check-in and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was decent apart from the turkey sausage and bacon, which were so rubbery. Everything else was good, and the pancake machine was fun. Trains into Manhattan are an easy two-block walk. Coming back after dark was uncomfortable for my family because several people asking for money were persistent, though we never felt in danger. It works well if you need to be nearby, but the location would make me hesitate to stay again.

I chose this place because it was an easy walk to the event I was attending, and public transportation was convenient too. The neighborhood isn't the best, though it didn't feel dangerous to me. Inside, the hotel was nicely decorated and clean, with friendly staff and a breakfast that had lots of good choices. Parking is free, but the lot is very limited, so get there early. I was very happy with my stay, would recommend it, and would come back.

I had the last room, downstairs, and it was perfectly fine. When I was nearly late for breakfast, the manager helped me get to the breakfast room in time. Everyone I dealt with, from the manager to maintenance, was pleasant, professional, and friendly. The hotel was clean and well cared for throughout, and the breakfast room attendant kept things stocked and tidy. Breakfast itself was good. I forgot to leave a tip for the very pleasant housekeeper, which I regret. I'd stay here again, and I'm coming back next week. I'll pay the extra $20 over the nearest other hotel because I know I'll get good service here. That was a nice stay.
