EVEN Hotel Brooklyn by IHG

Charisma made my stay at the Even hotel a very good one. Before I arrived, she helped arrange a room change on very short notice, and the check-in with her and the rest of the friendly staff was easy. Then, in the early hours of my last morning, my key card stopped working. Charisma made a replacement and sent maintenance up with me to check that the door battery wasn't the problem. I was very glad to meet her, and really appreciated all her help.

EVEN Hotel Brooklyn by IHG was a comfortable, refreshing place to stay for four nights, and I'd give it a solid 4 stars. What makes it especially handy is the location at 46 Nevins St in Boerum Hill/Downtown Brooklyn. Nevins St subway is close, with multiple lines for getting to Manhattan, and Barclays Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Atlantic Terminal are a short walk away. Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO are also easy to reach on foot. It works well for events, exploring Brooklyn, or getting into the city without Manhattan prices. The area is lively, but the hotel feels tucked away enough to be peaceful.

It's easy to get around from here, with Hoyt Schermerhorn Streets, DeKalb Avenue, Hoyt Street, Nevins Street, and Jay Street MetroTech stations all a short walk away. There are lots of subway lines, and City Point mall and plenty of food options are nearby. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with housekeeping keeping them comfortable and clean every day. Front desk staff were warm and helpful, and check-in and check-out were simple. I wish we'd managed to catch a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center. I'd stay here again if I visit NYC.

We picked this hotel for our wedding guests, and the team did a great job helping with all the different needs of our small DIY wedding party. The rooms are chic and comfortable, the beds are firm, and the location is hard to beat. Everything we had planned for the weekend was walkable or no more than one train ride away. Rates were very fair. Room sizes and amenities varied quite a bit even within the same rate category, though that worked out nicely for one guest, who got a rooftop patio where we could do a photo shoot. The sales team could take several days to reply about the room block when something came up. It all worked out, but I can see that delay being hard for a more anxious bride. One elevator was out during our stay. It wasn't too much trouble, but we needed extra time to get downstairs from floors 10th-14th in wedding clothes, since stairs weren't practical. It seemed the elevator issue had already been going on for weeks or possibly months, and I imagine it was frustrating the staff. I've included that in my service rating and hope the building manager sorts it out soon.
