Ashley at Marriott Bonvoy customer service was the one helpful part of a thoroughly stressful stay. She was professional and really tried to sort things out. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Staten Island cruise package was supposed to include parking and shuttle service to Cape Liberty, but both legs turned into a mess. I called twice before arriving and was told to book the shuttle at check-in, only to be told it was full. The replacement shuttle got us there two hours before the port opened. For the return, we were told to call the day before. When we did, that shuttle was full too, and staff said we should have booked earlier. We spent hours being passed between staff and management. Callbacks never came, we were told cars had been arranged when they hadn’t, and one employee hung up on us. Assistant manager Monica didn’t follow through, and staff gave conflicting information. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone sailing from Cape Liberty.

The shuttle arrangements had a brief hiccup, but a calm, helpful woman at the front desk quickly got it sorted so everyone could get to the port. The rest of our visit at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites New York Staten Island was easy. Staff were friendly and professional, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. Breakfast was solid for something complimentary, and parking was convenient. Our room was spacious and quiet, with a comfortable bed, a good shower, and plenty of outlets. The hotel was clean, modern, and well kept from the lobby through the rooms. I’d happily stay there again when I’m in Staten Island.

Shoutout to everyone who made this stay so nice. Rosie and I had a lovely conversation at breakfast, and Hilaria from housekeeping helped me with my room and my things. At the front desk, Rubieo noticed my cartoon and anime tattoos, Nadia kept me laughing, and Monica was warm and friendly. LeAzah was especially great when I asked about late checkout. She was fun to talk to and had such a good manner with customers. Thanks to all of you. I’m looking forward to coming back soon.

Free parking was a big plus, and nights were quiet despite the commercial surroundings. Getting around was easy, with major roads nearby and places like Staten Island Mall, Staten Island Zoo, and Wagner College within reach. You can also take the free shuttle to the ferry for a quick trip into Manhattan.

The front desk staff were decent when it came to questions, but I couldn’t sleep because people outside the rooms and around the parking lot were noisy all night. The whole hotel, from the entrance to the room, had a strong fragrance that triggered my allergy. I’d avoid it for that reason alone. There wasn’t enough parking for all the guests. We left the car in the back, which felt like a ghost town, and were relieved it hadn’t been broken into by morning. I’m an elite Bonvoy member and was disappointed not to get an upgrade, though that’s a minor issue compared with the rest. I don’t understand how this is rated four stars. It felt worse than one.
