Hyatt Centric Wall Street New York

The location worked for us. We walked to Brooklyn Bridge and back twice, and there were beautiful water views nearby, though our room looked out at a canyon of skyscrapers. Staff were very nice, but the bar on site was super pricey. There were some nice touches, like the sizable bathroom, big shower, good water pressure, hallway mirror that pulled out, and electric blackout curtain. The bedding was comfortable, but the bed itself sat oddly low and wasn’t very comfortable. A business associate initially thought his bed was a Murphy bed. Our floor was uneven too, so the rolling desk chair drifted away. The biggest issue was the HVAC. No matter what we did with the thermostat, the room stayed too hot, and the fan couldn’t offset it.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and they surprised us with an upgrade and let us check in early. That made a big difference after traveling. I had a wonderful stay at Hyatt Centric Wall Street. The room was massive, with far more space than we expected, and the team’s great service made the whole visit memorable. Everything felt perfect. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York.

For the price, the room size seems to be the only real value. It was spacious, including the bathroom, and the location was decent, but everything else fell short. Street noise came straight into the room, with constant honking and sirens. The restaurant food was very subpar. The gym was under construction, so we had to use the one at the neighboring property. Extra towels took about an hour after my wife called. Mildred from the front desk delivered them and was very grumpy. That was our only request aside from the AC repair. The AC didn’t work and the room felt like a sauna. We told the front desk, and they sent an “engineer,” who said the system was old and outdated and all he could do was open the window. We were on the 12th floor in the middle of winter, so we had no choice but to leave it open rather than overheat. That made the noise even worse.

The bathroom was roomy, but getting ready there woke my husband when the frosted glass panel between the shower and bedroom flooded the room with light. The bathroom was aging, the handle on the door was falling off, and the sink faucet hung so far over the basin that brushing my teeth or washing my face was awkward and left water on the floor. The shower only drained after the water was turned off. Gross. The bed was moderately comfortable, but the pillows were flat and hard. Mostly, I couldn’t sleep in the heat. We stayed 3 nights the week before Christmas, set the thermostat to 60, and the room still felt like 80 the whole time. I was sweating just getting dressed. When I raised it with the front desk after the first night, the host showed no sympathy or apology, wouldn’t smile or make eye contact, and acted like I was a nuisance. I asked for a fan at 8:30 am; by 4pm we still didn’t have one, so we had to ask again. The wall panel above the nightstand controlling the lights and blinds had bright green lights. I had to cover it with a backpack to block them. If you need a cool, dark room to sleep, don’t stay here. Terrible stay. Do better, Hyatt.
