This non-profit B&B is a rare find in the heart of New York: a reasonably priced, genuinely pleasant place that supports worthwhile work for people in need. Kudos to the founders. I’m glad I discovered Interfaith 21. The place has a neat vibe, with a garden area and a spotless communal snack space that’s very well stocked. The morning scones and coffee were excellent. My room was immaculately tidy and had everything I needed for a night or a longer stay, including an adjustable desk, a cozy rocking chair, and potted plants. The bed was really comfortable, with such soft sheets. Alex, the manager, was very helpful, and everyone at the desk was unfailingly courteous and nice.

I came for one night on a work trip and plan to return. Being right in the heart of Chelsea was the main draw, and staying here felt more like living in the city than being a visitor. The people running the place were incredibly nice. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and felt very safe. The shared toilet and shower rooms are small, but that didn’t bother me. Lovely and affordable.

The rooms are small, but having a sink in the room was really handy. The host was friendly and helpful, and there were thoughtful extras like tea, snacks, and other little comforts. A cozy, welcoming place and a pleasant stay.

We stayed for two nights and would definitely come back. The hotel is in a handy area for reaching the major attractions. Our room was warm, comfortable, and very clean, and the staff were professional and friendly. Breakfast was included and had a wide selection of excellent quality. For us, it’s the best hotel in New York.

The staff were a huge part of why I’d stay here again. I arrived exhausted after a 12-hour international flight and five hours at the airport, late and with a knee injury, and Das warmly greeted me and carried my luggage upstairs. Later, when flight cancellations meant I might need another night, he tried to find a solution even though the city was fully booked for the holiday rush. I didn’t end up needing that extra night. I met three team members during my 2-3 night last-minute Halloween stay while waiting for friends to return to NY from work trips, and they were all kind and great to chat with. I booked the last available room, Surabhi, through the website. It was on the 4th floor and worked perfectly for me as a solo traveler, with enough space for two. The queen bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and warm. Having complimentary food and drinks in the 24/7 kitchen was a lifesaver after arriving late. Thanks to the whole team for their warmth and time. I’d love to return and learn more about their lifestyle and the cause behind the space. A note about winter heating, since I saw earlier comments. The room has an AC unit that works well and an old-style radiator. Some guests find the radiator noisy and the room too warm. I slept well and was fine with the warmth, though I always travel with earplugs and prefer warm rooms in winter. It was 1-7 C at night while I was there. The kitchen and first floors seemed warm enough throughout. Since heat is centralized, though, the top floor can get cooler if people on other floors ask for the heating to be fully shut off. Older windows and an open roof door for ventilation add to that. This happened on my first night and was quickly fixed the next morning. If your room is too warm, the team is responsive. You can adjust it with the AC, open a window, or open your door; staff can also individually turn your heat on or off, though that takes mechanical work and is less practical. They’ll help find a solution. Please don’t insist on shutting heat off for everyone when there are easier ways to cool your own room. On my arrival night, a couple pressured us at the kitchen to agree to turning it off, questioned where we were from that we needed heat to sleep, and lectured an energy engineer about saving energy. I found the conversation uncomfortable and said fine just to get out of it, not knowing how warm or cold the room would become. The top floor doesn’t retain heat like the first or second floors, which are surrounded by other rooms. The rooftop door and bathroom windows are often open for ventilation, so the top floor and showers can get chilly. We also need the rest of the building warm and usable for everyone. I couldn’t shower early one morning because my room, the top corridors, and showers were cold, and I woke up with a sore throat. Please be considerate of other guests, especially when they may not have easy ways to warm their spaces. The team thoughtfully offered me a thick, warm blanket before bed, which took care of sleeping.
