The Lucerne Hotel

We keep coming back to this Upper East Side hotel. The rooms feel spacious for NYC, and the sound insulation has meant no problems with street or neighbor noise. The beds are comfortable, and we especially like the deluxe rooms for their sitting area, mini fridge, and microwave. The doorman is always warm and helpful, and the front desk team is friendly and efficient.

Love this place. I’ve stayed a couple of times and already have another visit planned for next month. Check-in was quick, and the staff were welcoming. The rooms are a good size, and there’s a deli right across the street for coffee, juice, salads, or whatever you need. If you know NYC and want somewhere quieter but still close to everything by foot or transit, this is a great spot. The Upper West Side is lovely, without all the Midtown honking. It makes it easy to feel like a local on vacation. Sean from Toronto :-)

The staff were pleasant, friendly, and keen to help, and there are lots of nearby restaurants and ways to get around. Shopping, Central Park, and other things to do are close too. Our suite had plenty of room to relax, sleep, and make coffee, with a microwave and fridge. We were on the second floor facing West End Ave, so street noise came through. The decor also felt dark and dated. If we return, I’d choose a higher floor and a room facing 79 st.

Our room was a good size and spotlessly clean, and everyone on staff was very friendly. There’s a small, clean exercise room, though it’s tempting just to head out and explore the city. Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History are an easy walk away, as is the Beacon Theatre. The subway’s #1 Line is only a block away, and there are plenty of great restaurants within five blocks, with Insomnia Cookies across the street. Expect typical New York street noise, so ask for the highest floor you can if that bothers you.
