The room could use some attention. The roller blind was torn, and hot water took a LONG time to arrive. They sent someone as soon as I asked, but these weren’t quick fixes. I’m also not sure about the carpet pattern or the elevator artwork. Still, I had a generally good stay and would come back. The staff were great, they left me a nice Happy Bday message, and I appreciated the $20 daily consumption credit, which I think I received because of my status. The location by Union Square and Astor Place is great.
Come here if you want to be out exploring and taking in the good things about life in NYC. We were close to Washington Sq. Park, with its history around Dylan/Baez among many others, and the Moxy felt like a place that had been thoughtfully elevated. The room was set up efficiently for spending time elsewhere. The staff were warm and friendly, ready to help as soon as we arrived. It made us feel welcome and set the tone for a remarkable experience. Thank you for everything!
The location is great, with lots of bars and restaurants around, and the front desk staff were very nice. I stay at Moxy hotels often because I like their fun vibe, but this one had a lot of little frustrations. As a gold elite or whatever I am, I usually get offered late checkout and free water, but neither happened. The water in the room costs $7. The furniture felt odd. I had a mini sofa beside the bed instead of a night table for my phone, watch, or iPad, and the four-poster bed in a small room gave me more things to bump into. The toilet seat was smaller than the bowl, so lifting it meant touching the bowl. There was no privacy blind, so the choice was being in view of the building across the street or using the blackout shade. It was quiet until 4am, when the elevators down the hall started chiming nonstop. I ran the fan on high to cover it. I couldn’t get the free morning coffee either, since it wasn’t self-serve and there was a wait.
The location was good, but the room was cramped, like many city hotels. We moved rooms after the first night because the original one was miserable, unbearably hot in February, with broken AC. The desk guy tried to tell us the HVAC person had fixed it, but they hadn’t. The second night was restful. I’m a Marriott fan, but I’ll avoid Moxy. I just never find it comfortable.
Our daughter moved to New York City, so we were looking for somewhere nearby to stay on visits. This hotel is within walking distance, and it exceeded what we expected. We stayed here for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, and both visits were wonderful. The rooms are small, but that’s New York City, and we don’t spend much time in them while exploring. They were comfortable, the hotel was clean and modern, and it’s in a safe area with easy train access. The staff made us feel at home. Jocelyn, Diara, Nicole, Cris, Brandon, and the others were welcoming, professional, friendly, and caring. Charlie K, the general manager, checked in to see how things were going. They even learned our names, which meant a lot. The café was another friendly touch, with excellent pastries and lattes served by Issy and Yesi. We’ll absolutely return and recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
