Quality Inn Woodside

The staff were nice and there was someone at the front desk at all hours while I was there. Housekeeping brought fresh towels quickly and refilled toiletries without much wait. Rooms were clean but a little cramped, and the water was hot or cold when I needed it to be. Parking is VERY limited; if you find a space behind the building off 53rd, tell the front desk and you should be all set. Breakfast was simple, with nothing really hot, but enough to tide you over until a heavier meal. I’d recommend it and consider staying again.

I didn’t like being charged for the full stay at check-in; I’d normally expect to pay at checkout. The Wi-Fi worked well, but the TV was so-so, and the hotel isn’t in a bad area. The bathroom was good and the shower was excellent. Still, this is the first hotel I’ve stayed at, apart from a Motel 6 years ago, that wouldn’t give us extra clean towels until we handed over the dirty ones. Apparently they worry guests will steal their threadbare linens. The half-size pillows were horrible too, presumably for the same reason. This place shouldn’t be called a Quality Inn under Choice Properties.

The second room left us looking around all night and feeling scared, so we left a little later. In the first room, my friend spotted a tiny bug. I thought it might be a baby roach, while she was sure it was a bed bug, room 515. I called the front desk, and the man didn’t sound surprised. He came up, checked, and handed me another key card. I don’t know how this place gets a four-star rating on Google. I should’ve read the reviews before booking. Please read them and don’t rent a room here.

The room had roaches, so I went to the desk the next morning and asked for my money back. The man said there were no refunds and that the whole building was infested. When I first arrived and gave him my credit card, he told me they only take cash, so I paid cash and got no receipt. I visit friends every year and have stayed here before, but I won’t again. It was a very bad experience.
