Ramada by Wyndham Jamaica/Queens

For a week’s stay with my girlfriend back in 2010, the price was definitely worth it. The F line is only a few blocks away and takes you to Manhatten. Breakfast was continental, simple but decent for starting the day. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. A good option for students on a budget.

The staff were helpful and kind, the room was clean, and everything worked. There were lots of pillows on the bed, which I loved. The only reason I’m taking off a star is that the bathroom constantly smelled of cigarettes or weed. Either way, I’ll definitely come back.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The bathroom only looked clean, and the shower setup was a mess: the shower head didn’t work, the tub control was hard to switch to shower mode and wouldn’t stay there, the broken stopper meant the tub wouldn’t stay filled, and the water wouldn’t turn off completely. I also saw roaches appearing here and there. One receptionist was mean and nasty, and the room service staff were rude and obnoxious. The front desk man even cursed under his breath when people asked questions.

The hotel was clean, and the neighborhood felt okay and peaceful. It’s in an Indian neighborhood, which is fine if you’re not racist. At checkout, the charge disappeared from our account and then we were charged another $80. Nobody could explain why or do anything about it. Very upsetting.
