The room and bathroom were clean enough, the bed was comfortable, and the electrics were in surprisingly good shape. The bathroom was shabby, though, and the room itself was worn. The corridors were narrow and dirty. We didn't see mice, roaches (at least, no living ones), or bed bugs. So it wasn't all bad, especially if you're mainly here to enjoy Manhattan. From Riverside Studio Hotel, Strawberry Fields in Central Park is a five-minute walk, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is about twenty minutes away. Head south to Columbus Circle for Whole Foods, where you can get good food by the pound, or visit the Museum of Arts and Design. Location, price, or plain desperation might bring you here, but it'll be fine.

We couldn't face a second night here. My friend made the booking, so I only saw the place when we arrived. It was basically a hostel, with shared bathrooms, and the hallway outside our room smelled awful. The price is about a third of what other hotels charge, but you get what you pay for.

The location was fantastic, but the price was too high.
