Royalton Park Avenue

We loved staying here and would come back. Our Superior Queens/Queens room worked just right for four of us, two adults and two teenagers, and it was very clean. The staff were welcoming and helpful whenever we had questions. The rooftop bar offers free coffee and tea in the morning, which we enjoyed. Midtown's a great central base, so we explored everywhere on foot, with good delis and bagel shops just around the corner.

The penthouse was spectacular, with a heated indoor pool and a beautiful lounge overlooking the city. Our room was huge and clean, and the balcony gave us a little taste of the city. Service was awesome, and we had a fantastic stay at this hidden gem. We only wish we'd had longer to enjoy all the luxuries.

The lounge has plenty of space and great views, and the rooms are a decent size with nice bathrooms. Service is good, though the rooftop restaurant seemed a little understaffed and distracted. It feels like a hotel that was once great and is now just pretty good. I wouldn't call it five-star, and it seems to be struggling to make four. In our room, the thermostat needed maintenance to get the heat working, then had to be switched off because it couldn't automatically turn the heat off. Housekeeping brought a blanket quickly. The TV remote was somewhat unresponsive, and the $5 Uber gift card reward for booking on the website had expired.

We really enjoyed the rooftop pool, with its open sky and nearby buildings in view, and the breakfasts were superb. The staff were very friendly. It's a very good hotel at an affordable price for downtown Manhattan, well located close to a subway station and lots of attractions.
