The rooftop lounge is a nice extra for relaxing after a busy day, and the lobby has a modern feel. Rooms are compact but cleverly laid out, very clean, and more comfortable than I expected, especially if you're out seeing the city instead of sitting indoors. It's just steps from Times Square and major subway lines, so getting around is easy. For an affordable, stylish, efficient place in central Manhattan, this spot delivers.

The room had serious problems. It was dusty, and I killed at least five aphids that seemed to be coming from the drains. The bathroom was tiny, had no hand soap or Kleenex, and its door kept sliding back open. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were supplied in the shower. Water pressure was very weak, worse than at some campgrounds. The beds were so short I could touch the end at 5'3", though they were firm and comfortable, with several plug and USB charging ports. The bottom bunk was cold while the top one was warm because the heater vent was right beside it. Staff were nice and knowledgeable at check-in. When we asked for extra blankets, they arrived within 15 minutes, and the concierge got us an airport ride at checkout in ten minutes, $90 USD to JFK. Luggage storage before or after check-in was useful. The location was fantastic, 10 to 15 minutes from times square, an eight minute walk to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, and close to plenty of good restaurants in Hells Kitchen. If you're only there to sleep, it's okay, but don't expect quality.

It's a basic no-frills room, clean and equipped with what you need, at a good price for solo travelers. The location is just minutes from times square. I'd stay again, though the power setup could use an update: my USB port didn't work, and I found just one wall socket under the desk, already shared with other things. C type charging outlets for phones would help.

For an affordable room in a great location, I'd recommend this place. I liked being able to walk everywhere, and I walked back alone from a Broadway show and felt safe, as safe as you can in a big city. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was small, but I was on my own and didn't mind. A bunk room would probably feel tight for two. If luxury is what you're after, this isn't it, but the price was great.
