I started living at The Nash in September 2017 and am moving out after a year because of noisy neighbors and ineffective management from BLDG Management. I’ve lived in the city for almost ten years and have dealt with bad, sometimes outright deceitful, management companies. BLDG Management was one of the worst. They often bounced us around without resolving anything, sometimes ignored emails and calls, or took days to reply. We complained several times about the noise, but nothing changed. There were many recent grads in shared units. On my floor, three apartments had three or four people sharing two- or three-bedroom units, and loud bass-heavy music often went until 2 or 3 a.m. on weekends. This had been an issue from the start of our lease. It felt like a college dorm with higher rent. If you want a peaceful home, this may not be the building for you, unless you get lucky with quieter neighbors, which seems unlikely. The location is between Murray Hill and Park Avenue Fidi. The first few floors are used for short stays or hotel guests, with tourists and their luggage coming through. The building earns some revenue by renting apartments as hotel rooms, but management never told us this when we signed. The two elevators are small and often broke down, and the hotel guests added to the traffic. Everyone has their own preferences. I work long hours in investment management and want my apartment to be quiet and relaxing. The Nash wasn’t a fit for me, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with similar priorities. Good luck out there.

I was there for six months on a travel nursing job and found it to be one of the best temporary apartments I’ve stayed in for a long time. I only saw my own unit, but it was very clean and had the home-away-from-home things I needed. There was a small-business bakery downstairs that I loved, and I could walk to a nearby brewery. It was also convenient to SRMC. If I come back to SRMC or Petersburg, I’ll rent there again. I told my company to place anyone else there when I left.

The roof is a really nice spot to relax, and the location is good. Most of the doormen are friendly too. I stayed for over a month. The larger apartments, with two bedrooms or more, are good, but the one-bedroom units are pretty awful because the bedroom isn’t truly separate. It took several days and about three requests to get an extra blanket.

They let me reserve an apartment and charged my card, then turned me away at check-in because I live within 50 miles. My address was required when I booked, and they didn’t mention the restriction then. I was asked to submit a photo of myself before check-in, and that’s when I was denied. I suspect it was because they saw I was a Hispanic man. I know they have the legal right to deny so-called locals, but they had my address hours earlier. I explained that I’m an essential employee at NYU Langone Hospital and wanted to stay near work because I was exhausted and didn’t want to travel. They still gave me a hard time, then finally did me a favor by letting me cancel. Easily my worst hotel experience.

Don’t book an apartment in this building. Customer service is poor, the kitchen is mediocre, and the water pressure from the kitchen tap is never enough. No one checks on basic amenities. They also make you pay for normal wear and tear on their own items, claim you caused it without substantial proof, and hassle you for money.
