The Westin New York Grand Central

Our room was spacious, with two double beds, a closet, and extra drawers for storage, so I'd recommend it for families with kids. We landed early and were lucky that our rooms were ready, though I know that's not guaranteed. As Bonvoy members, we had a credit and enjoyed food and drinks at the hotel restaurant. We were only here for a short trip. The Westin is close to Grand Central, which made getting around easy. We also took longer walks to Times Square and Rockefeller Center, about 30 minutes each.

The breakfast was delicious. I'd seen reviews about long lines, but we didn't have that issue. We went around 8:00-8:30 AM, and it was fine. There might be a line if you arrive right before closing, but it moves quickly. Grand Central Station is walkable and makes getting around the city easy. We had such a great stay at The Westin Grand Central. The rooms were very clean and everyone was friendly and helpful, from luggage assistance and the front desk to the restaurant and luggage storage after checkout. Ericka at the front desk deserves a special mention. She was amazing and so kind to our family. Five stars, and we'll definitely visit again!

The room was clean and comfortable, the location was great, and the staff were all wonderful. The elevators were fast, but check your floor selection: several times I scanned my key, lit up my floor, and the elevator passed right by it. I had to scan and select again, then go back down. A few other guests said the same thing had happened to them. Sleep was surprisingly hard. It wasn't just traffic, though city noise could be heard even on higher floors. The ice machine had no door, and if it was near your room you'd hear it grind and clunk now and then. There was also a high-pitched ringing I couldn't tune out. I eventually figured out it came from the mini fridge fan and unplugged it. Add voices and plumbing sounds from neighboring rooms, and I'd bring earplugs. The lobby vending machines only sell electronics and medication after hours, so for food or drinks there's a short walk to CVS.

The staff stayed courteous, attentive, and helpful whether it was 2 AM or 2 PM, and a request for extra towels was handled in under five minutes. The hotel is busy and the location is busy too, with guests from couples and families to people visiting NYC from around the world, but everyone seemed happy. The lobby had subtle security, while the rest of the hotel felt still once past it. I spent two nights here in October with college friends. The room was clean and quiet, with a firm bed and comfortable sheets. I used the bag drop and had a lovely breakfast in the lobby restaurant. It's a superb location with great staff, and I'd book it again on future trips. It's also a place I'd feel comfortable booking for my daughter if she were visiting NYC, especially for tourists and families.
