The rooms are the main thing that needs attention here. Ours looked out over the pool, whose bottom was dirty, and the rooms need a major renovation, a deep clean, better lighting, and bathroom safety features. There could also be more snack choices in the lobby. Robot delivery costs more, too. There are plenty of other places to eat just seven minutes or two miles down the road, in the shopping center off Jarvis and Newark Streets with grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels. We had one breakfast and one dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast tacos were greasy and the oatmeal watery, but the mezze platter from the Bites menu, smash burger, and California club were good. The fries are thin shoestring style. Food took too long: if you’re pressed for time, get the breakfast buffet or allow 20 minutes for an order. The lobby, restaurant and bar, elevators, and hallways were clean, though the hallways could use more light. This used to be an old Marriott business travelers hotel. Esme was friendly when we checked in, but at checkout didn’t ask how the stay went, whether we needed a ride, or welcome us back. Rideshare drivers can find it easily. Our trip over the Dunbarton Bridge to Stanford took 45 minutes one way, so plan ahead.

The rooms were a good size, but the place smelled musty and didn’t feel clean. The coffee wasn’t good either. This is the lowest-quality Marriott I’ve stayed in. I like Aloft hotels, but this one badly needs an upgrade.

My room was stunning, and I’d come back for it alone. The staff were a letdown, though. I’ve been a Gold member or higher with Marriott for over ten years and don’t have anything good to say about the staff. I didn’t see anything within walking distance, but there’s plenty nearby if you have a car.

The views are nice and the rooms are big enough. It’s an alright hotel, but there isn’t much around it. The nearest shop is a seven-minute drive.

I enjoy staying here, but lately the ventilation has smelled burnt and I don’t know what’s going on. It also seems like it hasn’t had a deep clean in a while, and the phone system is kind of goofy.
