Comfort Suites Newark - Harrison

We booked two rooms through hotels.com and had already paid, with proof on my account. The front desk attendant even took a picture of my phone with his own, but still said we’d have to pay another $400 and that it would be charged anyway. They also charge for parking, and the staff were little help. There are other hotels nearby, and I’d personally suggest Hampton Inn in Harrison, just a couple of minutes away. Don’t waste your time or hard-earned money here. I hope this place closes and never gets another dollar from anyone.

The representative at the front desk made me feel completely disrespected when I arrived. I believe her name was Nelly. That first interaction left me uncomfortable and made me wonder if I wanted to stay at all. I’m thankful that the person who helped at checkout on Monday, I think her name was Tara, was professional and greeted me with a pleasant smile. I’d been dreading checking out in case I encountered the same unwelcoming behavior, so her approach made leaving much more comfortable. I’ll also be telling the corporate office. Many people at the hotel agreed about this behavior, and it’s unacceptable. I hope they address it for everyone who’s had this kind of horror-movie experience and anyone who comes in the future.

I’ve worked for Comfort Suites before and know the rules, so this was especially frustrating. When I called to confirm my reservation, Ms./Mrs. Nelly gave me a lot of attitude. Check-in itself went smoothly, but the next day I asked for a shower cap. Another employee was about to get one when Nelly stopped her and told me they didn’t have any. She also said they’d received a call the previous night about noise from our room. If they’d gotten that call, why not come by then? On the day we left, a couple were fighting in the hallway, and people knocked on our door at different hours of the morning. The hotel itself was great, but Nelly had a horrible attitude and was rude and unprofessional.

We were comfortable for the time we needed to stay, and the bathroom had plenty of towels. The place worked well for the funeral we were attending. The only real issue was the thin walls. We could hear the person next door talking on the phone and guests walking around in the room above us.
