Balboa Bay Resort

We spent three nights at Balboa Bay Resort for our anniversary and only wished we could have stayed longer. The bay-facing room was worth the price for us, with yachts along the slips and lovely changing views from sunrise through sunset and into the starry night. The front desk team greeted us by name and was always smiling and ready to help. Jack, the front desk manager, and his staff made the celebration memorable. The whole property was kept remarkably spotless and polished, better maintained than the many four-star hotels I’ve stayed in over the years. Credit to the maintenance crew. We usually avoid hotel restaurants, but A+O surprised us with a good range of dishes and fresh ingredients. Jose served us each night by chance, and his service was impeccable. Kudos to him and the chefs. We also chose overnight valet parking, despite usually self-parking. The fee seemed reasonable, and the team was quick, courteous, professional, and helpful with local questions. By the end, they felt like old friends. We’ll be back. If you’re visiting the Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, or Laguna Beach area, The Balboa Bay Resort is worth considering. A+ and five stars.

The restaurant and its view were lovely, but the staff are what made this stay special. My husband gets around in a power wheelchair, and Balboa Bay Resort worked really well for us. The concierge team suggested suitable activities and great places to dine. We also appreciated the free valet shuttle around the area, which made getting around easy and worry-free. Staff handled his wheelchair without complaint.

Fatima at the Balboa Bay Resort made a real difference during my check-in. She quickly and professionally sorted out a couple of issues and made sure the room was ready for my newly married brother and his wife. She even arranged balloons and chocolate-covered strawberries, which made their stay feel special. I really appreciate her care and dedication, and recommend her for her kindness and professionalism.

We were stuck in the same bed for two nights because there wasn't enough time to switch rooms, and we couldn't sleep. The bed smelled SO strongly of URINE. Absolutely disgusting. I wanted to love my stay here.
