Dorymans Oceanfront Inn

The employees were extremely nice and professional, and the marble bathrooms and decor are beautiful. I also liked the beachside location and cute ambience. But the noise made it hard to sleep. You can hear neighbors, the front desk, and even a guest upstairs slamming a microwave door in the morning. Newport feels like a college town, so don't expect much sleep on Saturday or Sunday. If you like bar hopping and staying up until dawn, maybe it's for you. At 2am a loud group outside kept setting off their car alarm, I think for entertainment, and I had to yell out my window for them to stop. I called the front desk, and they kindly went out to talk to them; the group left. Breakfast wasn't much of a breakfast, just yogurt, fruit, cereal, and bagels. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best. The town is definitely rowdy, maybe just not my crowd.

We got the room for half price through the HOTEL TONIGHT app. The hotel has a lovely rooftop with 360-degree views of Newport Beach and Corona del Mar. It’s a vintage place, and we stayed there on New Year's Day. It was quiet, Ben was very comfortable, and the staff were great. We asked them to take pictures and they really went for it! 😲😀 Would highly recommend.

Best location in new port beach, though the area is always crowded at night. I went for a jog in the morning and caught a glimpse of a beautiful sunrise. The room had a nice beach view, and I woke to a breeze coming in from the beach.

Going for a run on the boardwalk and through the Newport Beach neighborhoods changed our first impression completely. We arrived at Doryman’s Oceanfront Inn on New Year’s Day, when the pier and area were busy, and after the calm of Santa Barbara, the activity felt a bit overwhelming. Our room was just off the lobby, too. But the run showed us how beautiful the area is. We later wandered the boardwalk and found lots of fun, funky restaurants nearby. We picked up sushi, then came back early to enjoy the fireplace and Victorian feel of the room. The ocean view was beautiful, and being right on the water was a highlight. We could hear people coming and going near the lobby, plus some noise from the parking lot and restaurant below, but it stayed manageable, never unbearable. The room wasn't especially spacious, and the TV was small and outdated, which nudged us to unplug. We read by the fireplace and enjoyed the view instead. We loved the rooftop, especially looking out over the ocean at breakfast. The complimentary spread had coffee, yogurt, bagels, and chia seed pudding with fresh fruit. The historic Victorian coziness and great location more than made up for the room size. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, the pier right outside is good for surfing, and the oceanfront runs were beautiful. We even saw a whale from the pier, unforgettable. We'd absolutely stay again.
