The room was overpriced, and the problems made this stay especially hard for me while I’m dealing with cancer treatments and feeling exhausted. My dream of staying by the beach was ruined, and we were so disappointed. On the first night, the AC didn’t work, the TV was out, and there was a big square hole in the sliding door screen. I couldn’t open it without letting bugs in. The front desk staff member was very helpful and moved us. The second room was a little better, but its screen also had a hole near the door, and the Roku TV kept shutting off. The next day we asked for the room to be cleaned. They changed the towels and emptied the waste basket, but didn’t make the bed or replace the coffee and cups. There was water on the bathroom floor, so our son wiped it up to prevent anyone slipping. The floor was filthy.

The balcony room had a lovely ocean view, and I really enjoyed spending some quiet time there. The hotel works well for friends or families. Check-in was easy, and Yash at the front desk was especially kind and helpful throughout my stay. I had a great time at Hotel Solarena in Newport Beach and would recommend it. — Micheal

The rooms were clean and nice, and honestly the place wasn’t that bad. The photos do make it look better than it felt in person, though. What brought my rating down was the staff, who came across as passive aggressive and made me feel unwelcome. If they’d been nicer, I would’ve rated it higher.

The ocean view from the balcony was the best part. I could hear the waves and feel the breeze, which made the trip really relaxing. The room was comfortable, clean, and had the basics I needed. The hotel itself was peaceful, with the beach, restaurants, and nearby attractions easy to reach. Parking was plentiful. Paying for secure hotel parking gave me peace of mind compared with street parking and worrying about towing. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, and check-in went smoothly. I felt welcome as soon as I arrived. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Solarena in Newport Beach and would recommend it for the views, comfort, and service.

My husband and I stayed one night while traveling. I’m pregnant, disabled, and preparing for my fourth heart surgery. We parked in a handicap space with proper legal authorization. At 7:30 AM, an employee named Kia pounded aggressively on our door and woke me. He said our truck was making it hard for him to breathe, though it passes smog and has no emissions problem. He spoke to my husband in a hostile and completely inappropriate way. When I went to the lobby to address it professionally, I saw that Kia had parked his own vehicle in a handicap space with no placard, plates, or authorization. He confirmed he doesn’t have a disability. It was alarming to see the employee who had confronted us over legally using the space occupying one without authorization himself. I believe this is an ADA violation. Hotel staff should respect accessibility accommodations and not misuse or obstruct handicap spaces. Instead, this employee occupied one, harassed a disabled pregnant woman and her husband, tried to intimidate us over a false claim, and helped create an unsafe, hostile environment. This goes beyond bad customer service. It’s the kind of conduct that should be reported to the ADA.gov Federal Civil Rights Division, state accessibility enforcement, and corporate compliance departments. I left shaken, unsafe, and disgusted. Disabled guests should not have to deal with staff violating ADA requirements while targeting paying customers. If accessibility, safety, and basic decency matter to you, avoid this hotel at all costs.
