Club Wyndham Inn on Long Wharf

The staff really made our family visit special. Giovanna and Kevin were warm, attentive, and treated us like VIPs. When we had a small issue with our room key, Giovanna handled it professionally, fixed it quickly, and made sure we felt looked after. Her friendly manner and attention to detail also made the transfer smooth and welcoming. I've owned this timeshare for over 8 years and stayed at plenty of locations. This was among the most memorable visits we've had in more than 20 years of enjoying timeshares. The resort is beautiful, clean, and well located, but the hospitality from Giovanna and Kevin stood out most. We'd highly recommend Club Wyndham Long Wharf Newport for a special getaway. Thanks to them, this family trip is one we'll treasure.

My husband and I were honeymooning in Newport after spending a few days on Nantucket Island, but weather canceled the steamer ships on Oct. 31 and we couldn't leave Nantucket. We had reserved the weekend of Oct 31-Nov 2 through booking.com and had paid $540.00 for two nights, charged to my account a week before the stay. We hadn't realized Club Wyndham Inn was a time share rather than a hotel. From what I understand, booking.com reserves directly with the owner and pays them for use of their time share, rather than paying Club Wyndham. I let the Club Wyndham know about the cancellation, but never heard back from “Willy” at booking.com. He'd said he'd contact “the property” to find out whether the rate would stay the same or change, but didn't call me again. To stay a second night at Club Wyndham, we were told we'd have to pay another $219.00. I won't use booking.com again. They don't offer 24-hour service, are very hard to reach by phone, and when I finally got through to a real person, they couldn't help modify the reservation. Be careful, this is a time share, not a hotel.

The harbor view and location alone make this place worth recommending. The windows are big, so you can really take in that amazing view. The rooms are huge too, with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and living area, plus a full-size fridge and a super comfy bed. Plenty of room for two. There's a lot included, with indoor and outdoor pools open year round from 8am-10pm, and free laundry with detergent provided. Thames St is a five-minute walk for all the action. The Cliff Walk is 1.5 miles away, with bus 67 just five minutes off. Some of the freshest lobster rolls are two minutes away at the crab shack. I'd definitely go back.

The harbor scenery was lovely, and it was easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and bars. Our room had good amenities and was clean and really comfortable, though it could use a little updating. Things were quiet around us at this time of year. Staff and front desk folks were very nice. They had a small social get-together with light snacks and wine, and I wish I'd brought a bathing suit for the heated indoor/outdoor pool. The gym was small, but handy.
