Club Wyndham Long Wharf

I was really looking forward to this special getaway, but the dated, minimal decor and furnishings were disappointing. They even charge $3.95 for lobby coffee. When we entered our room, there was a blood stain on the bed. I walked to the main lobby and asked to have the sheets changed. They said no, it wasn't possible, and told me to try again in the morning. That doesn't help us sleep on the stained sheets tonight, and they couldn't even confirm they'd change them if we asked again. Extremely disappointing. I'd skip this place.

The rooms are okay and the location is great, but there's not much service included. Four of us were in the room and all know I left two coats there. We checked out Friday, I noticed early the next morning and called as soon as I could on Saturday. I kept calling the following week, but nobody found them. Makes you wonder how much you can trust housekeeping.

Service was okay, but if this is meant to be family-friendly, families need to keep an eye on their kids because staff clearly aren't doing it. I saw a couple of girls, early teens or younger, alone in the gym, with one playing with the weights. I also saw people walking into the pool with drinks in hand. That might work in Punta Cana, but this isn't the Caribbean. When I walked past the front desk, staff members were just chatting. Hopefully they'll get better training by summer.

The people were nice and helpful, and the amenities were decent, though crowded and noisy. The location is also great, close to everything but just far enough to be out of the middle of it. Still, the stay was extremely disappointing for the price. Two stars may be generous. Our two-bedroom “suite” was in the Touse House building, which wasn't town houses. It didn't feel like a suite at all. The building was loud with little sound insulation, and the rooms were old and dated. Furniture looked like it came from the 80s and was in that kind of shape. The uncomfortable furniture and kitchenette were both old, and the carpet should've been replaced a decade ago. The master bedroom had only a closet, with no dresser or drawers anywhere. The bathrooms were old too, and the shower curtain was stained. Avoid that building.
