Gilded

Breakfast was excellent, the rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location was excellent. But the sound carries badly inside, even though the neighborhood is quiet. On two of our three nights, the only issue was hearing the person next door coughing. The first night was much worse: loud talking from the neighbors for hours, drunken yelling in the hallway at midnight, and guests talking by the fire pit at 3 am. How noisy it is seems to depend entirely on who else is staying there. The guy at the front desk during check-in also seemed overly stressed, which didn’t give me much confidence in the hotel.

Katie’s service was outstanding. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make the stay memorable. Gilded has a beautiful, distinctive boutique feel, with thoughtful details throughout. The stylish rooms and great amenities add to the appeal, and Newport’s shops, restaurants, and attractions are easy to reach on foot. I’d highly recommend staying here when you visit.

It’s a cute little place with character, an old house turned into an inn, and it’s well situated in town. The rooms are nicely decorated and the bathrooms well stocked. Breakfast is homemade and just enough to get you going in the morning. Since it’s small, there are some little things you won’t get at a large operation. A good, inexpensive option if you want somewhere charming.

The room was great, and the fireplace was an especially nice touch. It’s a unique building, about a 10-minute walk to downtown, and we had a lovely weekend here. Peter and Katey were really helpful. We also enjoyed the tasty breakfast, and having parking available was very nice. We’d love to stay again next time we’re in Newport.
