The Hammett has a great location, the room was very clean, and the staff were super friendly. This was my first stay, though I travel to Newport a lot. What I couldn't get past was having no fridge or coffee maker in the room. Even Hotel 6 has those. I had to throw away good leftovers from a great dinner, and there wasn't an ironing board either. There also wasn't a hotel store for basics like chips or Advil, and no lobby fridge where you could grab a beer or soda and charge it to your room. You have to travel to get those things. There wasn't even a muffin or anything available in the morning. For the price, I expected these basics to be part of the stay or available.

I liked the reusable glass water carafe and guest refill station. It was a thoughtful touch, and more hotels should consider it. The room itself was fine and the location was great, but the space felt sterile and lacked some of the things that make a stay comfortable. Both the shampoo and conditioner were empty. I only noticed once I was already in the shower, so I had to use body wash for everything. For the room price, that basic oversight was frustrating. A refrigerator and coffee maker, along with better room checks, would have made a big difference.

Even during a snowstorm, the staff kept the paths completely clear and the hotel spotless. The maintenance is top-notch, and the central location makes it easy to explore on foot. The room and sink layout felt a bit cozy, but the excellent service and accessibility more than made up for that. It's a very reliable choice.

Off-season rates are a steal for accommodation of this quality. The hotel sits right in the middle of the Newport waterfront, close to everything. Rooms are modern and well kept, with crisp linens and walk-in showers enclosed in glass. The hallways and guest rooms have beautiful ambient lighting, and valet parking is convenient. Sorry I didn't take pictures, but you won't be disappointed.

Liz at the Hammetts Hotel front desk made our weekend fantastic. She helped my family with wedding preparations and has the best customer service and personality of any hotel staff I've stayed with. The hotel was clean, the location was great, and parking was easy too. Thank you for everything you did for us, Liz. 🤍
