I stayed for a week, and most of the staff were helpful and pleasant. Tanya at the desk was especially great: she had a serious but likable manner, fixed the pancake machine, and gave me a quote when I asked about extending my stay. Although I'd booked through a third party, she said she could extend it. I decided to wait, and when I came back a few days later, Nikki said she couldn't do anything because of the third-party booking. Nikki didn't greet me until I greeted her first. My bigger concern came when I asked for housekeeping to vacuum my room. Nikki asked when it had last been serviced. I said two days earlier, and she claimed the law required housekeepers to enter every room after two days for a full service, no matter the circumstances. I looked it up and found that hotels can enter for welfare checks or suspected illegal activity. I don't think either applied to me. It felt like she was making up a rule to assert her authority. There was also the time my door wouldn't lock. Nikki acted as if I didn't know how to lock it and didn't seem to treat it as a safety issue. She made me wait over ten minutes just to ask where the ice machines were. I interrupted while she was waiting for payment and things had gone quiet, but she still couldn't answer a simple question or multitask. I eventually asked the security staff member, Kris. Nikki was the only person who made my stay unpleasant. She never seemed glad to help and didn't smile when I spoke with her. Stephanie, Kristi, Scott, Mike, Tanya, David, the Asian guy who helped me get back into my room one night, and Clay, who I think was at the desk when I met Tanya, were all pleasant and did their best to help. The housekeepers were good to talk to as well. In lodging, the front desk is the face of the whole Quality Inn Brand Name, so it's too bad Nikki fell short. For context, I was often outside smoking and was always lit. I picked up all my cigarette butts before leaving as a courtesy; the rest were from other smokers. I still gave five stars because everyone else worked hard to make the stay pleasant, despite the few bad experiences with Nikki.

The rooms were an 8/10 for me: clean floors, a soft comfy bed, and plenty of space. I nearly did a cartwheel. The morning lady was A++, though the woman on the night shift had an awkward attitude. Breakfast was a mixed bag. The pancakes weren't cooked through, and those mini bagels nearly cracked a tooth. No meat at all, and the only eggs were cold boiled ones. I might come back, but I'd stick to the free air and coffee. I need my teeth when I'm older! The free air was exceptional, at least, and that's hard to find these days. Parking sucked too, someone slap the architect, please.

I loved the Washington D.C. art decor, which gave the place a great feel, and my room was quiet and peaceful with no outside noise. The staff were super friendly, and the room was clean and nice. I did spot a roach in the shower, which surprised me given how clean everything looked. I checked around for others and didn't find any more, as far as I could tell. There was also a pretty big buckle in the carpet, mostly an eyesore. Neither issue put me off, and I'd definitely stay here again.

For $100 CAD a night including taxes, I found this on agoda.com and thought it was a fantastic deal. It's clearly a budget hotel, but the rooms are huge and have a fridge and microwave. The sheets were wonderfully soft and silky, like something from a 5-star hotel. Breakfast wasn't warm, though there is a pancake and waffle maker, which was decent. The front staff were attentive and nice, and the security made me feel very safe traveling solo. Highly recommend.

The price and location were good, and the room had a refrigerator, but I didn't find the stay comfortable or pleasant. It was musty and smelled bad, and running the air conditioning didn't clear it out. After I left, I had to wash all my clothes right away. The bathroom had broken fixtures, the sheets had cigarette-burn holes, the pillows were small and uncomfortable, and the mattresses were very hard. The staff didn't seem to care much either. It was serviceable, but not worth it for me.
