Hotel Sylvia

We’ve been coming for several years and love the small-town feel, with local shops and restaurants. This was our first visit since the remodel, and the upgrades were done really well. The location is hard to beat, with lots of spots to sit, read, knit, or just take in the amazing view. Staff were very nice and handled everything well. Alex at the front desk is great at making you feel at home.

We stayed in the William Shakespeare suit, which was beautifully set up with classic books, a fun Shakespeare-inspired Lego set, and other literary decor. Everything was sparkling clean and smelled great. The staff were kind, responsive, and accommodating with every request. We asked the day before to upgrade the room package, and it was no problem. They were friendly in person and over email, with a formal but welcoming manner. I can’t recommend Hotel Sylvia enough. For a romantic occasion, Zach’s bistro right down the road is incredible, the best food I’ve ever had. Thanks, Sylvia team!

We spent the long President’s Day weekend here and are already looking forward to coming back. Hotel Sylvia is cozy and quiet, with plenty of comfortable places for reading, puzzles, or writing. There are lovely beach views, borrowable warm blankets, and fireplaces, plus books tucked into every nook and cranny to borrow or buy. The complimentary espresso drinks were a big plus, and there are lots of places to explore and eat nearby. The staff were kind too, especially Alex, who went out of the way to answer guests’ questions.

I stayed for an extended visit in the Maya Angelou room, with its ocean view and lovely, spacious deck. It was a great place to relax, read, and make art. The staff were friendly, helpful, and ready for requests. Alex was exemplary, going out of the way to help carry all my things to the room when I checked in. The hotel is professionally run, and I’ll definitely return. It was my first visit, on the recommendation of family and friends, and it didn’t disappoint.
