Eglin Extended Stay Hotel, a Howard Johnson by Wyndham

Check-in staff were very nice. The biggest letdown was that the coffee machine was broken, so there was no morning coffee. Worse, the hotel wasn’t doing anything to get a replacement, and we had to buy instant coffee to make in our room. Free breakfast was one of the main reasons I picked this place 😢

I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. There was black mold on the ceiling, apparently painted black to hide it, and cockroaches in the rooms. The place was dirty and service was awful. Leftover change from the previous guest was still on the fridge, which makes me think the rooms barely get cleaned. We saw three roaches on the second night and asked to move. We got another room, only to find more there too. When I raised it with the front desk guy, he said he didn’t believe me. I took pictures and requested a refund for the night we didn’t stay in the new room. I did get the refund, but still had to say something about the experience. Don’t stay here.

Cockroaches were crawling across the desk, more than one, and I regretted booking as soon as I walked in. The room had chipped paint and a musty smell. The bathroom was a nightmare too: there was actual poop floating in the toilet when I arrived, and the water pressure was so weak I could barely rinse my hands. Staff seemed genuinely annoyed to be doing their jobs. I don’t normally leave reviews, but this stay was so awful I felt I should warn people. The place is dirty, poorly maintained, and customer service is nonexistent. It should be inspected by the health department. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else.

I’m not impressed. The rooms weren’t what they claimed they’d be for the price, and I felt overcharged. Then I had to leave the room because a worker was starting crap. This is the last time I’m staying here.
