Days Inn by Wyndham Norfolk Airport

The only reasons this gets one star are the price and how easy it was to book. There was a strong weed smell right by the front door at check-in, and open condoms in the parking lot. Early check-in cost $50, basically the price of another day. The room was so dirty I had to wear socks and take them off after putting my own blanket over the covers. There was dirt in the corners, stained sheets, dirty mirrors and sink, hair in the shower and all over the floor, and a filthy toilet inside and out. I nearly threw up when I went to shower, and wore slides to get through it. The man gave me fresh towels when I asked, but they had tons of hair, looked like pubic hairs. There was spilled juice and dirt in the drawers, so I couldn’t use them for my clothes, and the wall clothing rack was rusty. Such a disappointment. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

We came from Pennsylvania for my birthday weekend with a friend and booked three nights. First they charged me $268.90 twice, once when I arrived and again the next day. I noticed it in my banking app and went to the office, but got no apology, just that the money would be refunded within three days. It should have been reversed right away. Then my key card didn’t work because they’d only set it up for one day instead of three. Again, no apology. I also had to go back to the office because nobody brought fresh towels. Other hotels have always given me fresh towels. I’ll never stay here again, and for this incompetence I’d give negative stars.

The front desk associates were polite and helpful at check-in, and they’re there for your needs 24/7. It’s a great location, with easy access to the highway and food areas. The one issue was housekeeping knocking two hours before checkout to ask if I was leaving, then asking again 30 minutes before 11 even though I’d already said I was. They barely had any check-ins, maybe eight people in the whole hotel, so I shouldn’t have felt rushed out like they were sold out and needed to clean fast. I’m also a Wyndham member.

When I called because we thought we’d left something in the room, I was put on hold for 20 minutes. I called back after being told to try again in five minutes, gave them my number, and was told they’d call me, but it shouldn’t take that long to get a yes or no about an item on the ground floor. I finally said to forget it and that I’d take the loss if it was gone. I didn’t swear at anyone. Later, when we tried to book, they put us on a do-not-rent list and claimed I’d cursed them out and left a bad review. I deleted the review after finding the item. The rooms were expensive for the days we stayed, with dirty bathroom walls, missing ceiling patches, and floors that looked unswept. The muffins were nasty, maybe because they’d gotten wet, and the dryer lint looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. They also claimed I spoke to a woman, though I actually spoke with two different men. I’m glad they don’t want my money, since I can stay somewhere better, and I don’t need anyone lying about me.
