Holiday Inn Bloomington - Normal by IHG

The breakfast service for our group of 255 really stood out. We had a private conference room with lots of fresh, hot choices, and the three staff members working each morning kept refilling and tidying everything so it all ran smoothly. The rooms were modern and very clean, and the staff went out of their way to welcome us. I’ve been part of many group travel events over the years, and it’s rare for the whole stay to go this smoothly. We loved our stay and the service at this Holiday Inn. A first-class experience from start to finish.

The bathroom was the biggest drawback. It’s tiny, with little counter space and poor lighting. The only light is around the mirror, so the shower is almost completely dark, and the sliding door doesn’t latch. The hallways are narrow too, and the 1 Queen Bed room with a sofa couch feels cramped for more than one person, better suited to a solo traveler. The place was quiet, with little freeway or neighbor noise. Housekeeping was professional and my room was spotless on arrival, and the staff were welcoming. If the bathroom had more room, better light, and more usable features, this would be a solid choice all around.

We were part of a group of over 200, and the hotel handled it nicely. I’d stay here again. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. I liked the room, though the bathroom was quite small and could have used more lighting.

We were in town to see our son and celebrate my husband’s birthday, so I brought a cake. The lobby was huge, but we were told we couldn’t sit there and eat outside food. I understand the hotel has a restaurant, but there should be a place where guests can sit with food they brought. I’ve never stayed somewhere that didn’t allow this, and we won’t return to this location. The room itself was uncomfortable too. The hallway was so narrow we could barely get through with luggage, and the bathroom was tiny. Its sliding barn door wouldn’t close all the way, which made using the bathroom awkward. The room and bathroom both needed more lighting. There were no windows looking outside, and the dirty windows faced the indoor pool.
