Motel 6 Normal, IL - Bloomington Area

After a 7-hour drive, we just wanted to settle in. We'd asked for two rooms and were checked into both, but the motel smelled completely of cigarette smoke and marijuana. The window in our first room was broken and wouldn't close. We moved to another room, but I have photos showing how dirty it was. I went to the office to complain and ask for our money back. Both rooms cost $80 each, and looked as bad as they did. The front office didn't give us paperwork, and the staff seemed to know very little about their jobs. Worst motel stay ever. I'd absolutely veto this place and tell people not to go.

It's been 6 days, and housekeeping hasn't come back since the first day. I called the office days ago and also spoke to a housekeeper who said she'd come the next morning, but she didn't. I ended up buying my own towels and washing them at a laundromat. The first housekeeper came around 1:30pm. I had to ask for towels and got dirty ones, plus garbage bags. I asked her to sweep, and she did the bathroom and under the table. She left cups but didn't offer toilet paper. There were flying bugs to kill, dead bugs and chips on the dirty floor, and the shower, sink, and tables were dirty. The shower knob takes some fiddling to get hot water. Dogs bark loudly in the hall at 3 am, which smells like dogs and marijuana, and people are around in the hallway at all hours. The price is good, but service isn't. Definitely not worth $365 for 8 nights. God Bless them and guests.

As soon as we got to the room, I killed 5 roaches in just a few minutes. The shower floor was black, the walls were filthy, and the hallways were atrocious and reeked of pot. I called the desk to ask about another room, but was told we couldn't switch and could just leave. When I asked for a refund, he said I wouldn't get my money back and offered to bring roach spray. I packed up my son and left. We weren't staying there. This place is filthy and should be shut down by the health department. You should be ashamed of renting rooms in that condition. Homeless people live cleaner.

It's cheap, and that's the only thing it has going for it. I drove 12 hours to stop here because it's pet friendly, then found a very dirty room: stuff on the walls, an uncleaned toilet, and baseboards that were rotted and cracked. I slept in my clothes on top of the bed, using a blanket from my car. Wouldn't recommend it.
