We only stayed one night, and I really wished we could have stayed longer. The mountain view from our second-floor porch was beautiful, and the room had two vintage-style chairs by a big front window facing the mountains. Our two-bedroom suite also had plenty of storage, with a little coat room, two roomy dressers, and a couple of good-sized tables. There was a TV, plus a coffee maker stocked with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. A fridge, small freezer, microwave, plates, and bowls made it easy to settle in. I also liked finding some classic and historical books in the room. The bathroom looked newly renovated, though perhaps still a little unfinished, and had a lovely stone shower with a built-in seat and glass door. Weekend breakfast included bagels, muffins, donuts, fruit, yogurt, bread, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and milk. Such a beautiful stay.

The room was spacious and very clean, and the owners were wonderful. The mountain breeze kept things comfortable even during the 90-degree days I was there, despite there being no air conditioning. I felt so relaxed that I decided that night I want to stay here whenever I come to the Berkshires. Honestly, I’d happily pay just to sit on the porch with coffee and enjoy the view.

The view was the only good part of our stay at Whitcomb Hotel on September 3, 2021. The property looked run down, and there was a vacant, crumbling building on the grounds. Our room smelled musty, the tubs had cracks, and we found huge spiders and flying insects inside. The mattress was awful too, with springs poking through and no comfortable spot on the bed. It was the worst night’s sleep I’ve ever had, especially disappointing since this was meant to be our fifth anniversary getaway. The room didn’t look updated or renovated as the website claimed. We had no in-person staff at either check-in or checkout. We arrived at 3 pm and left at 8 am, and found a note and basket outside the “office” for returning the keys. I never met Teresa, the manager, since she wasn’t there, and I found her phone manner cold and rude. The day before, she’d called to say our room was upgraded to “cosmic king” at no extra charge. Then on arrival day she called again, said she’d made a mistake and we’d be in room 9, and told me she wouldn’t be at the hotel. The room would be unlocked, with our receipt and keys inside. That was also when she told me the promised upgrade was being taken back. We would absolutely never stay again. Please heed our warning and don’t stay here.

Anne-Marie was so friendly and helpful, even arranging to ship the sweatshirt I left in the room. We were very happy with our accommodations for our one-night visit to North Adams. The views and nearby area alone are inspiring, whether you’re passing through for a night or spending a weekend exploring the mountains. It’s an awesome place, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of it. Thank you!

The view is stellar, and the continental breakfast was very nice. The rooms were clean and recently updated, too. It’s a simple hotel that works well as a base for exploring North Adams, Adams, and the rest of the northern Berkshires. There isn’t much else on offer, but that’s fine if you’re planning to spend your time out exploring.
