Wyndham Garden North Bergen Near Secaucus

We paid over $1,00 for five nights at Wyndham Garden North Bergen and had three straight days of avoidable problems. Each time, we had to make repeated trips to the front desk just to get basic service. Our original shower didn’t work at all; after a technician said it wasn’t a simple fix, we moved rooms. The replacement wasn’t ready either, with empty shower dispensers. We asked the desk for housekeeping and the needed products, but it took an unreasonable time for anyone to come. When someone finally arrived, they filled just one dispenser and had no shampoo or conditioner. The hotel says housekeeping is by request. We specifically requested it and were told it would be done while we were out, but hours later, no one had visited the room. We kept being told things were taken care of when they weren’t. Management offered $50 for three days of disruption, changing rooms, missing basic amenities, and repeated communication failures. We explained that the offer felt inadequate and insulting, and never got a reply. There was little accountability or internal communication, and little regard for the guest experience. As recurring hotel guests, we expected better for the price and brand. I’d caution others to consider somewhere else if they value working basics, cleanliness, and professional service.

The room was reasonably clean, and housekeeping was acceptable overall. There was no hand soap at check-in, though, and the air conditioning was blasting in late September with no way to turn it off from the room. I had to call the desk to shut it down manually. The bathroom ventilation also ran constantly and was so loud it made sleeping difficult. The biggest problem happened when we arrived. After more than 12 hours of travel, staff said they couldn’t find my prepaid booking, demanded the full amount again, and wouldn’t let us into the room. We had little choice but to pay on the spot and dispute it with the booking provider later. Then, after charging us for the whole stay a second time, they asked for an extra deposit. Thankfully the provider eventually resolved it, but it should never have happened. The staff experience was atrocious. Only one woman at the desk could communicate properly in English; the others struggled with even basic conversation. Professionalism was nearly nonexistent. One employee kept asking for the card used to prepay, although the booking had been paid directly from my bank account, not a card.

We went two days without hot water. I asked several times for it to be fixed, but nothing changed. They moved us to the room right next to our original one, then called it an upgrade so they wouldn’t compensate us for the inconvenience. It had the same view and was exactly the same room. We were also missing wash cloths. I wouldn’t recommend this place or stay here again.

After our room was cleaned the next day, we came back to find no wash cloths, hand towels, or towels at all. I asked the front desk for three sets, one per person, but the employee handed me two and said that was all he could do, even though the cabinet was full. Later, when we asked about the shuttle to the Giants game, the desk staff didn’t know what we meant, despite it being posted in the lobby. We saw several other guests waiting there for rides to different places, some for at least 45 minutes. Our arrival had already gone badly. We landed Friday at 9 pm and called Wyndham Hotel North Bergen Near Secaucus three times to request the advertised free airport shuttle before anyone answered. We were told the driver would take 30 minutes, but we waited more than an hour and a half, calling now and then with no answer. We eventually got someone else to call, and the desk then said there were no more shuttles that night, despite having promised pickup during the website’s 6-11 pm window. With our 11 month old in and out of freezing temperatures, we waited more than two hours for a shuttle that never came, then had to go back to the terminals to find a rideshare. Don’t count on the shuttles, or on the front desk being responsive or helpful.
