Courtyard North Charleston Airport/Coliseum

The front desk staff were friendly, but the housekeeping problems and security issue made this stay unacceptable. I had declined housekeeping for the entire visit. After we were out all day, we came back to find the door open. Housekeeping had entered anyway, partly cleaned the room, and left the door open for anyone to walk in. The door also didn't shut properly, so we had to slam it every time we left. I couldn't trust the room with our valuables and took them with me whenever I went out. The assistant manager handled my complaint and first offered points. I pushed until she agreed to comp one night, but she never called or texted as promised. I didn't feel that one night was enough compensation. I would have left, but canceling would have cost me, and a last-minute booking elsewhere would have been more expensive. The manager admitted there were ongoing housekeeping problems but continues to use a temp agency, despite concerns from front desk employees. The lobby was always hot, and the trash was often full. There were other issues too: stained carpet, no soap in the shower, a leaking ice maker that left the floor wet, and slow elevators whose buttons often didn't work. I wouldn't recommend this hotel because the security and housekeeping problems don't seem to have been fully addressed. It didn't represent what Marriott stands for, or the company that runs it.

The room was immaculate when I arrived, and the rooms are kept neat and nice. The staff were all amazing, with every one of them showing southern hospitality. It's in a great central spot. Sorry I took pictures during my stay.

I've stayed here a few times, including after the remodel. The room looks good now and seems much cleaner. But there was no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash in the shower, and none available on request. I had to run to Walmart for some. That's a first for me in all my Marriott stays.

The hotel itself is fine, but the hospitality really let it down. From check-in onward, the front desk seemed cold, with no greeting or introduction and no effort to make us feel welcome. Whenever we passed through the lobby, we were ignored or got unfriendly looks. It made the whole stay uncomfortable, and I wouldn't choose this hotel again.
