My room was spotless and comfortable, just what I needed for a good night’s sleep. I arrived close to midnight after a long day of travel, and the front desk woman was so helpful and kind. She even gave me a snack for the room, which was a thoughtful surprise. In the morning I got a bagel and coffee from the breakfast bar. The gentleman looking after the dining area was attentive and kind, and kept things stocked and clean. At checkout, the desk attendant offered me water and snacks for the road, which I appreciated. I had a great stay from start to finish and will definitely return to Tru by Hilton in Goodlettsville next time I’m in the Nashville area.

The beds were comfortable, and the foam pillows were decent. The lobby’s colorful theme is cute, and the staff were friendly and kind. The woman at check-in was especially accommodating: we booked earlier that day, and she got us rooms across from each other. Breakfast was average continental fare, with eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, and bread. The pancake machine was the best part. The newer construction feels cheap, though. There was plenty of road noise in the front-facing room, and from the back room we were woken by the dumpster being emptied at 4:30 a.m. We could also hear the next room’s TV late at night and people walking above us early in the morning. The laminate floors probably make sound echo, though they may be easier to clean with pets allowed. Neither of our rooms seemed to have had the floors cleaned recently. There were shoe prints, dust bunnies, and crumbs everywhere. I wiped part of the entryway with a wet washcloth and it got cleaner. The tables and nightstands didn’t seem clean either. There were stains on the shower floor and a pillow, plus lipstick on the bathroom light switch. We managed for one night, but it felt gross. The heating and A/C units are cheap, noisy wall units like you see at other value hotels, and the controls are confusing. For just one night while passing through, it was okay.

I’ve tried staying here a couple of times, and both visits had problems. On my first trip, at 5:30 p.m. my room wasn’t ready and they said it would take about two more hours. I asked for a different room, and they gave me one, but there were no do-not-disturb signs, so I put up my own. Staff came in anyway. At the desk, I was told they were new and got an apology. Last week, they came in again and threw away my note. They went through my suitcase and tossed a bag of receipts that was on the bed, along with a bag I used for shoes. I was beyond angry. The front desk now has door hangers but won’t put them in the rooms, and although she tried to get someone to ask about it, it was too late. My privacy had been violated. I have my reasons for not wanting anyone in my room, and they acted like it was no big deal. Be careful staying here, and put up cameras when you leave. I hope the team gets better training. Everyone I dealt with was nice, but the cleaning staff need training.

Will was our housekeeper during the stayover, and he took great care of our room. He was respectful and polite, checked that we were satisfied, and even sent us to his favorite restaurant, DALTS. They knew him there, and the food was delicious. On Tuesday he wasn’t our housekeeper, but he still came to check on us. That warmed my wife’s heart. His kind spirit and energy are why guests return.
