Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston Arpt-Conv Ctr Area

Lori at the front desk was terrific. I called that morning with a special request, and she actually emailed to confirm she could take care of it. That's great service, and the hotel was very clean too. We were in town for an event, and when my wife asked how far away it was, we were told it was just a few minutes. The hotel Cory then kindly offered to drive us there and pick us up, which was above and beyond. The room didn't have a coffee maker, though. Come on, IHG, you can do better.

I've tried to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt, even after finding ants in my room twice. But I've also requested late checkout and returned to find housekeeping had completely picked apart my room. It's happened more than once on separate occasions. I try to be understanding, but when the same carelessness keeps happening, something needs to be said. Holiday Inn on W. Montague has lost my business, and I'll stay somewhere else from now on. Maybe the Hampton across the street will handle a late checkout better. Please do better.

The chaise in my room could use a cleaning or replacement, but otherwise the rooms were very clean and well kept. Staff at this Montague St location welcomed us warmly from the moment we came in and were helpful throughout the weekend. Tanger Outlet Mall and other shops and restaurants are close by, and downtown Charleston is about a 15-minute UBER/LYFT ride away. We had a pleasant stay and I'd happily come back.

The only thing that tripped us up was finding the main light switch. It's on the side of a cabinet, not the wall, so we spent our first evening in the dark before figuring it out. The room was very clean, and the front desk people were kind and helpful. Still a great stay!
