Wingate by Wyndham Charleston Coliseum

We only stayed one night, but it felt like home. At our late check-in, the front desk lady was so sweet and offered us a bigger room when she realized I'd booked one bed, a full, for me and my daughter. I hadn't even asked, she could tell she could help us that way. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and better than the free breakfasts I've had at other hotels. There was a waffle station, cereal bar, and delicious seasoned potato wedges. Don't miss breakfast here! Thanks to the Wingate team.

My lady, who's from Charleston, called this hotel "dicey" when I booked, but even she was surprised by how nice the rooms were. The king beds are big, the bathrooms are nice, and the inside hallways are clean. Front desk staff are extremely nice and accommodating. The 24-hour coffee and cold water decanter were a nice touch, too. It's close to the highway and in a great location. The full breakfast was a real bonus, and on my last morning they even had biscuits and gravy. It's a great hotel, and I would absolutely stay again.

I used 15,000 points for what was supposed to be a free stay on January 25, 2026, and checked out January 26. Then I saw a $109.20 charge on my bank app. I emailed twice with proof the charge was wrong and got no reply, so I called Customer Care. After two agents, one finally contacted the motel. They said $100 was a deposit and $9.20 covered taxes and fees. Why should a Rewards Member have to pay a deposit for a free stay? I wasn't told about it at check-in. If I had known, I would've paid the deposit in cash or stayed somewhere else. The points also came out of my FORMER Wyndham Rewards account. Four business days after this post, I still hadn't received my deposit back. Nothing free about this "free stay." I WAS a Wyndham Rewards Member. I highly recommend Hilton Honors.

I've stayed in 20 different hotels this month alone, and only one other time did I feel a five-star rating was deserved. This place surprised me enough that I booked another night. The real breakfast was outstanding compared with others, and the staff were better all around than at my last Hilton. The room was spotless, and both the king bed and pillows were very comfortable. For anyone who doesn't know, hotel top floors generally get less traffic and less wear.
