Briarcliff Motel

I had Room 17 for two nights while exploring the White Mountains, and I felt safe and rested. The beds were comfortable, there's a mini fridge, and being able to park right in front of the room was handy. It's an older, outdated property, though. The AC system was pretty dusty and the shower temperature knob was loose, but I made it work. A pleasant stay overall.

This is a quiet, adorable little place on the eastern end of the Kancamagus Highway. The host was friendly and shared suggestions for local dinners and wineries. Our room was on the small side, but the bed was the most comfortable of the six hotels we stayed in during our road trip.

We spent three summer nights here while visiting the White Mountain area. The manager at reception was very helpful and kindly offered us a room with a balcony. It turned out to be a lovely spot for dinner, looking out over the forest behind the hotel. The pool is mildly heated, and we enjoyed it on a very hot summer day. I'd highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

The location is great, and the staff were very nice when we arrived. But the room wasn't properly clean: some towels were dirty, and the bedding didn't feel clean either. Two days later, I found what looked like bedbug bites on my arm, which unfortunately backed up my concern about the bed.
