Hampton Inn & Suites North Conway

The rooms were clean and fairly roomy, and the hotel is conveniently close to a lot of attractions. I wish there were more hooks and towel bars, as these places always seem short on them. For all five days we were there, the parking lot was very icy and risky to walk across except by the front door and awning. I saw a salt truck pass while I was packing to leave, but before then it seemed like very little had been done. Breakfast was just okay. The sausage patties were barely cooked, pale, and had a soft, gelatinous texture. Hilton needs better quality sausage and to cook it longer. The breakfast space was crowded and chaotic, with no clear buffet flow and too many people for the serving area. The staff were friendly and kept working hard the whole time. Barb was sweet, and I enjoyed a brief chat with her. The pool hours posted as 8am-12pm weren’t accurate. There was only one attendant during the day, and he closed the pool at 11am to take lunch. I don’t blame him for needing a break, but management should arrange coverage or change the hours.

The surprising part of this location is its indoor water slide park: two big slides, one enclosed and one open, plus a little-kid slide. The tunnel slide was pretty fast for a hotel. There’s a hot tub there too. I stopped by around 8:45 pm and hardly anyone else was using it. The fitness room was small, but had what I needed. I spent one night in mid-November. Check-in was quick and friendly, and they let me in half an hour early. My room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Breakfast was adequate, though I wish the chain wouldn’t serve it with plastic cups and utensils. I paid $122 before tax and would stay again if I’m in the area.

For $319 plus fees for one night, I expected better. The beds were awful and so uncomfortable that I was sore all day. People above us stomped around all night, and the front desk didn’t do anything about it. The water park was mediocre at best, with no swimming pool, and the hot tub was out of order, so no bubbles either. For the same price I could’ve stayed at eastern slopes inn and had a much better time.

I’ve been here a couple of times and like this hotel quite a bit. The suites are spacious and really nice, and the bed was comfortable enough for a great night’s sleep. Staff are great too. I had a minor TV problem and they took care of it quickly and professionally. It’s right on 16, with lots of places to eat within walking distance. I’d happily stay here again.
