The White Mountain Hotel & Resort

The hotel feels tucked into a beautiful forest, even though downtown North Conway is only minutes away. We come to this area every Christmas, and The Mountain Hotel is by far the nicest place we've found here. Staff greet you with warm smiles and wish you a great day. Breakfast is included and was excellent, and dinner last night was a hit too. The seafood chowder and crab cake appetizer were yummy. I highly recommend staying here.

The mountain views and the quaint town nearby are lovely, and the hotel itself is nice and mostly clean. The elevators were the exception. The restaurant had a good view and breakfast was good, with friendly waitresses, but our first dinner there was bad and expensive, so we didn't eat there again. Our second-floor room was sometimes noisy from people upstairs. The toilet didn't always flush properly, and the shower turned cold after a few minutes, in the middle of winter. What upset us most was not getting the deluxe king room with a couch that we had reserved and seen in the photo. They first put us in a handicapped room with no carpet and water all over the bathroom. We refused it, then got a room with two double beds. It wasn't very romantic, and it was so cramped that we kept bumping into things. The receptionist said she'd ask her manager about compensation, but the manager was never around and no one contacted us. We asked each day to change rooms and were willing to pay for an upgrade, but nothing happened. We also asked about staying an extra night, but they quoted us more than twice what we'd paid for the original booking. We stayed December 23-27. We plan to visit Mt washington again with friends because it's a magical place for its beauty, but next time we'll stay at the Glen house. The rooms are bigger and the views even nicer for the same price.

We return here several times during the Christmas season. The rooms are nice, the staff friendly, and the on-site restaurant is very good. There's also a nice bar with cool seasonal craft cocktails, and breakfast is very good. Shopping and downtown North Conway are a short drive away.

The crab cakes are worth ordering, all lump crab meat with no fillers, and the steak was tender enough to cut with a fork. The bar staff were fun and attentive too. We had an outstanding stay at white mountain, from the room quality to the staff and amazing food. I can't say enough about it and can't wait to return.
