The service was nice and getting a room at short notice was easy. My room was super clean, and even with the old carpet, it was in good shape. It could definitely use a renovation, though. Breakfast was disappointing, the juice machine was down, and the vending machine was empty and out of order. I didn't try the ice machine. At least the water was super hot.
I was very disappointed. The toilet plumbing was messed up, and I had to plunge it myself. During the two weeks I spent money here, no one came to check that we had tissue, towels, or clean sheets, and the room was never cleaned. I broke out in a rash all over my body while staying in room 204. One associate charged over 500 dollars to my card without telling me what the charges were. You can't charge such high prices and fail to provide the breakfast you're supposed to have. I took my money across the street to the La Quinta, where the rooms are much more comfortable and nice and the service is available. Super 8 needs customer service training.
For a cheap place to sleep while traveling alone, it worked out fine. The room was cool and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were clean. The man who checked me in was friendly and quick. It's an older, bare-bones hotel right off the freeway, so it's easy to reach, but the room smelled of smoke and the freeway is in a shady area. There were lots of people wandering around, and the stores looked like ones I've seen in 3rd world countries. Chinese food delivery came to over $30 with delivery and CC fees, so I got food at the gas station instead. Taco Bell was the only nearby food place, and I like TB, so that worked out. I was concerned about my vehicle, but the parking lot lights stayed on all night. I left at 0530 and was glad I'd gotten gas the night before, since nothing was open. I wouldn't bring my family here, but for me traveling alone and needing a bed, it was fine.
It took over an hour for housekeeping to bring towels, after the front desk said they'd send someone to help. They had to do laundry first. I'd used all the towels to dry up water from the fridge after its freezer defrosted overnight and flooded the floor. There was no maintenance staff available. I also waited 15 minutes to extend my stay another night while the front desk clerk was on an obvious personal phone call about reordering prescriptions. Service was adequate at best.
The freeway noise was loud, and the thin walls let me hear everything outside. Trucks parked there with their engines running all night. Inside, the room looked old and dirty, and I had to clean the toilet seat before using it. The window screen was odd the window. The big TV had no remote and stayed on a black-and-white screen, except for random no-signal messages. The front desk guy said just three words, “smoking or non smoking.” Not worth the price, and I wouldn't stay again. Super 8 hotels are usually decent, so I wonder if corporate checks all of them.
