We spent three nights in Unit 204, which was spacious, well stocked, and had a great beach view. The location is great, and I liked the open parking lot. I think the condo needs a deep clean, though. There seemed to be black mold in the master shower, and the vent behind the entry door was really dusty, as were spots behind the beds and doors. I wasn't sure the sheets were clean, so I washed them to be safe using the washer and dryer in the condo. The master bathroom is also very narrow, with little room to move around.
I first stayed here as a kid with my parents when the place was brand new in 1983, and now I'm back with my own kids. I still love it. The building has some age, but it's been maintained and updated. I can't speak for every condo, but PH-1, where we're staying this time, has been completely renovated with new floors, furniture, appliances, and more. Renting a PH unit also gives you roof access, which is super cool and the only one I know of in the Myrtle Beach area to offer that. There's an indoor pool and hot tub to use all year. We love Carolina Dunes. Give it a try and you will too.
After a month here, we won't be back and I can't recommend the place. The condo was clean and the kitchen had good equipment, but the furniture was cheap and uncomfortable, and there should be more lighting, with brighter bulbs. The inside photos use a wide-angle lens and make the condo look bigger than it is. The building itself is old, musty, and dark. The indoor pool also needs more light and looks dirty. With six guests, having to use a key for every outside building door was very inconvenient. The beach is nearby, but narrow and especially crowded at high tide. All garbage has to be carried outside to dumpsters by the road.
My family and I loved it and will be back. The views are great from almost every part of the condo, and it was very clean. It came with nearly everything you'd have at home, plus toddler toys and games for my girl. They also provided surfboard lounge chairs and tents for the beach. Perfect for us!
