Palmwood Villas, Unit 101 - 2 Br Condo

My family and I always have an amazing time at Palmwood Villas. Unit 303 has the best view, and Dave and Lisa are perfect hosts who keep their place very clean and up to date. The units are roomier and more comfortable than most, so the beach and pool don't feel as crowded. You can't beat the location: Barefoot Landing is just two miles away, and the beach is right in the backyard.

We stayed in Unit 303 in June and will absolutely be back. The Faraone family keeps it in pristine condition, and the cleanliness made it feel welcoming as soon as we walked in. The decor is cozy, and the kitchen has plenty of amenities. The ocean view from the balcony and the master bedroom window was amazing. Having a ground-level storage unit for beach gear was so helpful, especially since it had everything we needed. We also saw the condo manager clean the pool daily, and it was clean and very well kept.

This is a family-friendly complex with an on-site resident manager who has looked after the property, owners, and guests for years. About Mr. Cole's negative review, the family didn't follow the rules and repeatedly dove down to remove the pool drain cover, damaging it. That and many other disruptive actions were recorded on video and shown to the parents. The mother said they'd gladly pay for the damage. They lost their deposit and had to pay for what their children broke, and are now angry about it. The parents chain-smoked by the pool, their daughter broke two flotation devices on the pool lifeline, and they left empty cans and food wrappers there every day. We didn't charge them for the flotation devices. Their unattended children screamed in the pool day and night and threw footballs, causing so much trouble for other guests that the pool had to be closed. They disrespected the property and management. The roach comment isn't true unless they brought them themselves. Other guests complained to the resident manager daily about those 'sweet children.' I know where they rented, and it is a beautiful, well-kept condo. They're making false and slanderous claims because of their own negligence. I'm glad they won't return. They'd be better off finding somewhere in Myrtle Beach, or better yet, outside SC.

The pool area was well maintained, but the rest of Unit 304 left us unimpressed. It felt like the place was built in the 1980s and barely updated, apart from the kitchen. A mildew smell hit us when we opened the door, and every room had steady noise from either the AC or a dehumidifier. We couldn't turn them off without getting hot and humid. The master bedroom AC sounded like a dishwasher running beside me all night. The king bed was large but hard, with a big hump in the middle, and I woke up sore every morning. The small bedroom smelled worst, so our son often slept on the couch. The ocean view was mostly straight ahead because the building next to us blocked the side view. I'm a little jealous of the people who left four-star reviews, because their stay must have felt like the Ritz Carlton.
