The view is beautiful, but this was easily the most ill-equipped and run-down condo we’ve stayed in. We come to North Myrtle for a week every summer, with about ten family members altogether: our family of seven, my MIL, and our nieces. The living room mirror was broken off the wall, the curtains were torn, and the recliner was broken and wouldn’t recline. The bathroom mirror was broken too. There was what looked like a brown splatter on the bathroom door and wall, the sinks still had spit splatters and seemed like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the master bathroom toilet felt as if it might come off the floor when you sat down. We also found a few cockroaches inside. I know they can get in through the patio door, so that part is somewhat understandable. The place just seemed dirty and poorly maintained. Parking was a nightmare: only one space per unit, even when more than one family is staying there, and finding a spot was difficult. Overflow parking is across the street and a block down. We rented through Elliot Rentals, but there were no sheets or towels ready at check-in. They even said we hadn’t told them we wanted sheets, then charged us $200 for sheets and towels.

The condo’s in rough shape, and the beds were awful, old and musty with broken, misshapen springs in every room. The deck carpet was torn, dirty, and smelled bad. Our A/C froze up and barely cooled the place. Elliot, the realtor company, gave us only two keys for seven people and one onsite parking spot. You’re also required to rent their beach canopy instead of bringing your own. My 69 year old Dad sat in one we rented, it broke, and he got hurt. When we called to report it, the realty company was hateful. Everything else was okay. The pool was big enough for guests, and there’s a sea-view seating area, a covered picnic table, two small charcoal grills, and two beach entrances with spray-off hoses.

We paid what felt like far too much for four nights, Thursday through Sunday. The ocean view was the one good thing about unit 1C, a two-bedroom, two-bath rental through NB Realty. It was clean, but the whole place felt stuck in the early 1980s. The microwave was made in 1983, which is why I’d guess the first-floor unit hasn’t been updated since then. I’ve rented beach views since the early 1990s, including for many years in PCB, FL, so I’ve seen a lot of these places. In my opinion, the price should have been half, and even that would have been a little high. You might try another unit at

Mold and grime were everywhere. Whoever cleans this place needs to be fired. The parking is terrible too, you practically need an 18-point turn to get out of a space. Nothing looks updated, most of it looks like it came from a 70s yard sale. And those dumpsters get slammed around every morning at 5:30-6 a.m., so don’t expect a working alarm clock to matter. It might be more tolerable if it cost less. If my family wants to come back next year, I’m sitting out the beach trip.

In 7F, the grey tile and updated kitchen shown in the photos are about the only refreshed parts. The rest felt like stepping back into the 70s, with wicker pieces, old sofas, an ancient jacuzzi, and horrible bedding. The balcony furniture was disgraceful. The photos gave the wrong impression. They should gut 7F, update it, and take it off the rental market until then.
