Aloft by Marriott Cleveland Airport

It feels like home when I’m here, and it’s my favorite hotel. I work in the airline industry and stay at 25-30 hotels a month, so I’ve got plenty to compare it with. The rooms are consistently clean and comfortable, and the view is peaceful, especially in the snow. Staff are always kind and go out of their way to help. I also look forward to the $8 food and snack voucher they give AA crew.

The people here deserve five stars. Day is a great bartender, and the front desk, breakfast team, housekeeping, and support staff all helped make the stay better. The bar is a nice space and the drinks are solid. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport. My room, though, smelled of cigarette smoke and was so musty it made me nauseous. The hallway carpet was filthy, most outlets didn’t work, and there’s no central heating or AC, just a wall unit. The bar food is frozen and reheated. Breakfast was a confusing deal: prepaying gets you a $10 voucher, but a reheated frozen sandwich costs $7 and cereal is $4. There’s no continental breakfast, and the value felt poor. The team is holding things together, but the rooms and amenities bring my rating down to three stars.

Even with construction going on, I had a great four-night stay. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. The fitness center has full weights, two treadmills, two ellipticals, and a track machine. The front desk staff were friendly and even called after I got to my room to check that everything was okay. Thanks for a lovely stay!

When I’m in Cleveland or the nearby suburbs, this is the only hotel I choose. The staff treat me like family and take wonderful care of guests. You can tell they take pride in making sure people have a good experience. As a Marriott member, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels, and this is one of the best I’ve experienced for service all around.
