Fairfield Inn & Suites North Platte

I booked two nights but needed to cancel one. My second night was 22 hours away, and I've usually been able to change reservations, but they said I'd be charged because they require 48 hours' notice. I guess that's on me. I'll be in the area a lot for work, but I'll stay in Ogalla next time, even though closer would have been nice. Hotel owners who won't help titanium elite members don't need my business. Just as I was starting to like fairfield, I guess I'll go back to Residents inn or town place suites. They're always helpful and treat me great.

We won't recommend this place, and the mattresses were especially bad, shaped like bowls with no support. After a seven-hour drive, we had reservations and are Marriott members, but had to wait for our room to be “inspected” before we could enter while other guests checked in and got keys. At about 4:45 pm, the landscaping crew was trimming. We left for gas and dinner, then came back around 6:30, but the loudest noise, weed trimming, was still going. Mowing started too, so we couldn't hear the TV or relax after the long day. When we called the front office, they said they'd need to contact the manager, who wasn't on duty. Why give staff responsibility without authority to make guests comfortable? The place is very outdated. We'll contact corporate.

This was the worst Marriott stay I've had, and I stay at Marriott properties often. There were bugs in the room, bathroom, and around the pool. I counted seven in the bathroom alone. Someone else's food was left in the refrigerator when we arrived. We were told an upgrade wasn't possible because housekeeping didn't have enough staff. At checkout, we waited several minutes at the desk, but no staff showed up. I complained to Marriott Bonvoy, and a manager(?) called with a list of excuses and returned a meager 7000 points. My request for a full refund was denied. Do not stay here!

The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was already set out when we left an hour before the scheduled start, so we could eat before heading off. When I called to reserve, an hour and a half ahead, an actual person picked up, with no “push one for this…” recording. They were clear, concise, and very helpful. A great experience all around.
