The front desk woman was nice, but that was the only positive. I won’t stay here again. The place looked fine from outside, but inside it felt dirty, poorly kept, and far too expensive for what we got. I’d rather pay for a nicer hotel farther from Gore Mountain and make the drive. We were charged per person instead of per room, which is ridiculous. One bed was crooked away from the wall, and there was just one comforter for our two-bed room. We were told another would cost $10 because they were low on comforters, so my friend slept with only a sheet. The floorboards had gaps several inches wide and sank underfoot. The room was uncomfortable and creaky, the bathroom had little beyond soap and toilet paper, and one towel had stains or crust on it. The walls were so thin we could hear everything outside and in neighboring rooms. It seems like the priority is making as much profit as possible. There’s very little staff, basically one woman doing everything except cooking, and the rooms are outdated with cheap-quality stuff. I absolutely didn’t get my money’s worth.

We paid $248 for one night, and I wouldn’t say this place is worth that. It’s a mountain spot that doesn’t seem well maintained. There was no breakfast, at least during our stay, and I’m not sure if that changes in winter. The floors in our room clearly hadn’t been swept, so we kept our slides on all night. We’d only booked it to sleep after a wedding at The Lodge at Loone Lake, which is absolutely GORGEOUS and 10 miles down the same road. Before arriving, I’d called the number on Google and spoke with a very kind woman, who I assume runs the place. She wasn’t at the lodge and couldn’t initially guarantee an early check-in, but later texted to confirm we could come at 2pm instead of 4pm. We got there Saturday May 30th at 1:50pm. The whole area was empty, the main office was locked with a sign saying closed until May, and we had no phone service. We had to drive up the road to call her. She told us which room we had and that the key was outside it. The room had a campy feel and was cold, with the heat apparently turned off for the warmer months. The bathroom was okay, but when we tried to shower the next morning, the water started yellow and never got hot, even after 10 minutes. There was Wi-Fi and a TV, but no sound came from it. As others have said, the door didn’t feel like it would stop an intruder. I’d wondered who would break in somewhere so remote, but around 3am, while we were still completely alone and presumably on camera, a car full of people pulled in, ran around the parking lot for a while, then peeled out. Just weird. If you don’t need a shower, TV, music, or other people around, this might be the spot for you. That’s all 🫠

The Wi-Fi was strong and free, and I was glad to be close to the ski area. My shower was a nice temperature, though the tub plug didn’t work and the bathroom felt small. The bed was okay, but the room was cold, so bring warm pajamas. I turned the thermostat up to 80, but with outside temperatures below 0 degrees F, the room never really reached a typical 70 degrees. I paid $200 for one night in January. The room looked nice and somewhat renovated, but the floor didn’t impress me. It seemed like tape was holding the gaps together. There wasn’t a wall outlet by the bed, and unbelievably, there were no Kleenex, especially odd for January. Check-in took too long because of problems with the room key card, and the front desk is also part of the restaurant.

It’s only about 5 minutes from Gore Mountain, which was handy after skiing, but our one-night stay was mediocre. The room looked like the pictures, though the floors were peeling up. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and the two flat pillows provided weren’t enough. When we asked for more, we were told an extra pillow or blanket would cost more. The heat was set to 55 when we arrived. Breakfast was complimentary, but it was just bread for toast and cereal, served only from 8-9am. It was a pretty odd experience. This is a cheaper option for the area and might do if all you need is a clean place to sleep, but otherwise I don’t think it’s worth it.

We picked this place because it’s close to Gore Mountain, but it was dirty and full of bugs. There were ants in the bathroom, ladybugs all over, and one morning I found daddy long legs in my bed. The renovation looks like a cheap attempt to make things look nicer. Why put floating wood floors over carpet? The bathroom looks like a plastic frame was fitted over old tiles that might be rotted underneath. There was only one girl working, and she could really do one thing at a time. She was nice, but not effective while handling the bar, waitressing, check-ins, and towels. She said she was just a worker, not the owner. Maybe the owner doesn’t care anymore, because the lodge is old and a dump. Breakfast was boiled eggs, stale toast, and cereal. I’d rather spend the money at a cleaner, nicer hotel a bit farther away. This place is worse than a budget motel, so avoid it as much as possible.
