It was quiet, in a very safe neighborhood with a fire station next door and a well-lit parking lot. Our non-smoking room was very clean and handicapped accessible. The owners were on the property and were excellent, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was continental, with biscuits and gravy, excellent coffee, and juices. We’d recommend this hotel to families and seniors.
The rooms were well maintained, the housekeeping team was phenomenal and attentive, and it was a quiet, cozy place to get a good rest. There’s a free, delicious breakfast every day, and the property was clean and conveniently located. It had a friendly, small-town, family-style South Dakota feel. As a Wyndham Rewards Gold Member traveling and looking for somewhere affordable, clean, and comfortable, I called around. The warm, friendly customer service on the phone made my choice quickly, and I was quoted a fair price for the amenities included. When I’m in the area again, near the border with Sioux City, IA, I’ll go out of my way to stay here, even with other options around. In my humble opinion, it’s the best overall value at a reasonable price.
DO NOT COME HERE! The room was nice, but the bathroom had mould. Breakfast was cereal and 2% milk, and the TVs are cable-stealing boxes. The Wi-Fi is so bad that you can’t watch anything without constant buffering. She accused me, a truck driver, of smoking weed in the room and wants to charge a $250 “venting fee” to get the smell out. I’m allergic, and it’s illegal for me under DOT guidelines since I cross state borders. Her “proof” was a smell in the hallway. She said she’d called the police to scare me, but I told her I’d take a drug test. She’d been friendly, probably just to lower my guard.
I left to avoid the situation after cops were called. The cop said the owner had been fighting with his wife for the last 10 years. Management says the owner has mental health issues, and he accused me of sleeping with his wife. He said he had proof and that I knew what I did, which seems crazy when I left for work at 5am every day and didn’t get back until 5:30pm. Nobody was ever around or even at the desk. If he saw something while I was gone, or someone else was in my room while I was away, I’d like to know myself. When I came back for my things, he just hid downstairs. I’m left fighting corporate to get back the money I lost, and an apology would be nice. Avoid this place at all costs!
If I could give negative stars, I would. In all my 51 years, this is the rudest customer service I’ve ever had. Avoid this place at all costs. I booked online, but it was the wrong location, and yes, that was my fault. Still, they could have canceled the booking and chose to keep my money instead. When I called to explain, the lady hung up on me twice, said she refused to cancel, and charged my card. I’m telling you now, DO NOT GO HERE. They’re thieves.
