Residence Inn Tucson Airport

The pool is on the small side, and if a family with kids is there, it can feel like a noisy playground. With splashing, there isn’t much peace for anyone looking for a quiet place to relax after exploring Tucson. After the renovation, things look decent and the place is a good value. Breakfast is what you’d expect, with no complaints from me. It’s worth considering if you don’t mind driving a few extra minutes to your destination. Airplane noise isn’t bad late at night, since almost no flights leave after 8 or 9. A few maintenance items still need attention, like loose faucets and towel hangers. The gym could use more variety in equipment, and switching from magnetic stripe keys to RFID cards would be nice. The current keys can get wiped if you put them next to an iPhone because of the magnets. Fix those things and it would be a solid 5/5 for value.

I paid for two nights, but they comped one of them, which was nice of them and the only reason I’m giving three stars instead of one. I was offered another room, but decided to stay where I was and try to figure out where the smell came from. I also didn’t want someone else to have to deal with it. Some of the outlets didn’t work, and the room smelled strongly of urine. I asked for room spray, but the Febreze they gave me barely worked and did nothing. When I asked if they had anything else, they gave me a plug-in, so then the room smelled like urine mixed with gingerbread or something. The AC was VERY loud, and I had to nearly blast the TV to hear it. The pool is nice, but most of the hot tub jets suck in. If you aren’t careful, one will grab your skin.

The hot tub felt great after a long day. The staff were great, and breakfast was adequate, just what you’d expect at a hotel.

Great staff all around, and housekeeping did an excellent job. Alma in the kitchen made a good breakfast. Destiny at the front desk coordinated things well and helped make the place work well for business meetings.
