Follansbee Inn

We were waiting out a winter snowstorm when the owners kindly found us a room at the last minute. Denis made us one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had the next morning. The Follansbee Inn has a cozy, old New England feel, and it’s over 200 years old. There are fireplaces, games, books, and old photo albums showing generations of guests. We left with very fond memories. It seems like a lovely place for couples or families.

I was there before the season and, since I was staying by myself, the hallway felt pretty scary at night. That may just have been me. I’m kidding about the lovers’ horrors after sunset, though. The hotel was really good, and Denis was super nice when he met me.

We’ll absolutely come back if we’re in the area again. The food was incredible, and the coffee and tea were great. You can buy the mugs, too. There were lots of board games and two rooms with fireplaces where we could relax. It’s a beautiful home, nearly 200 years old, in a quiet neighborhood.

The hosts were lovely, and Dennis made us feel welcome. He explained the house, told us when breakfast would be and where their dock was, and recommended a beautiful walk. The house itself is stunning, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. It was our first B&B, so we weren’t sure what to expect beyond staying in someone’s fancy house and getting breakfast. Breakfast was amazing, but we slipped out without saying goodbye, and I do feel bad about that.
